"I have sampled varieties of coffee while traveling on four different continents. Broken Shovel's locally roasted Dark Roast is some of the best coffee I have ever tasted. The rich flavor exceeds any name brand coffee company and the 'roasted date' on the package reassures the buyer the coffee hasn't been sitting on a shelf for months. I can't get enough!"
Matt, thanks for the great review.
Jessica - Aledo, IL
"I can’t express how thankful I am for Broken Shovel Coffee. I have a severe gluten intolerance that has made finding coffee that I can drink very difficult. I decided to try this locally roasted coffee in hopes that the risks of cross-contamination would be low compared to a giant company. This is the only coffee that I have tried that has never made me sick, not even once. As thankful as I am about being able to have coffee that does not make me sick, the best part about this coffee is the taste. Once my husband and I started drinking dark roast Broken Shovel Coffee, other coffee just doesn’t taste as good in comparison. It has a very rich bold flavor and tastes so fresh! You can’t get this taste anywhere from a store or even a coffee shop.
Thanks So Much, Jessica.
Note from Broken Shovel Coffee, we do not specifically package to prevent cross-contamination. Positives that we think contribute to Jessica's tolerance of our coffee.
1. We purchase high quality Certified Organic Green Coffee Beans.
2. We only supply Whole Coffee Beans, so no grinder contamination.
Broken Shovel Coffee History:
Our Dark Roast Coffee Started as a Prepper Project. Green Coffee stores for a long time and when we started we bought 25# bags of green organic coffee beans for about the same price as regular store-bought coffee. We could drink good organic coffee if we put some effort into it, so our journey began. Long storage, reasonable pricing, and pounds of “Green Gold” in plastic buckets.
Well, we have grown up a bit since those early days. We still roast small batches and we still buy High-Quality Organic Green Coffee Beans, just in slightly bigger loads. But, our Goal remains to produce a competitively priced High-Quality Organic Coffee for us to drink and now to share with you. Don’t forget we drink it too!
Our beans are grown on small farms and coops. They are wet milled and dried right on the farm. Then we roast them on our farm. We look forward to serving you. Please feel free to contact us or subscribe to our email list if you have any questions.
